From Diabetic to Ex-Diabetic: Keto Transformations and Real-Life Results
Hey everyone! Today, I would like to share some truly inspiring tales about reversing type 2 diabetes through living an LCHF lifestyle. These aren’t simply success stories – these are real-life accounts of how taking control of one’s diet can change everything! Take a journey with Ian and Barb who both found hope and health through low-carb living!
Ian’s Journey from Type 2 Diabetic to Ex-Diabetic
So, Ian is an incredible individual who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes through a routine medical exam at 52. Previously he hadn’t really given his health much thought but hadn’t experienced any major issues – until now. After his doctor prescribed Metformin and sent him to see a dietitian, they created a restrictive low-fat diet plan with plenty of bread but limited fat, low salt content, and no meat at all – something Ian tried for three days but found to be unbearably restrictive as his hunger increased with side effects of the medication and couldn’t tolerated side effects of medication either!

That was when he decided to search for an alternative solution, discovering Diet Doctor website and researching low-carb diets. Within one week of being diagnosed, he ditched both pills and the dietitian’s plan, switching instead to a low-carb, high-fat diet plan he learned about from Diet Doctor’s website – eventually losing 35 pounds within eight weeks! Yet this feat wasn’t achieved overnight: during that same time frame he and his wife also took a two-week motorcycle trip through Bulgaria and Romania during those eight weeks of losing weight! He considers his actual progress more like six to seven weeks as progress is often slow due to deviance from strict adhering strictly with diet plans at times!
Ian was thrilled when, at his follow-up appointment with his doctor, nearly all his test results had improved significantly and even his doctor couldn’t explain why he still counted as diabetic! Ian felt great, so from then on he introduced himself as an “ex-diabetic”, even making jokes about having T-shirts made to commemorate this monumental achievement! Ian now feels lighter and healthier and plans on continuing the LCHF diet to lose more weight and live his life fully!
Barb’s Journey: Overcoming Diabetes in 26 Years
Let’s now turn our attention to Barb, whose story is equally inspirational. She had been living with type 2 diabetes for 26 years and relied on insulin–170 units of Lantus daily–in addition to medications for Crohn’s disease, hypertension, and arthritis that cost approximately $1200 monthly – it was an excruciating life but she was determined to change it.

She discovered Diet Doctor and started exploring low-carb diets. Although initially overwhelmed, she kept reading and watching videos from Diet Doctor until she realized the key was cutting carbs while making smart food choices – such as eating only one meal daily and performing three-day fasts frequently – which finally resulted in diabetes leaving after 26 years! Neuropathy improved, Crohn’s disease subsided, and her blood pressure normalized!
Barb was in preparation for major surgery and credits the low-carb lifestyle with helping her reach optimal physical condition. She lost 14 pounds as an unintended side effect and now feels like an entirely different person – though the psychological aspect was harder than changing her diet itself – she faced doubts as she wondered whether or not she could stay on it, but eventually managed to do it – and her life has changed for the better.
Ian and Barb’s stories serve as powerful reminders that it’s never too late to take control of your health, regardless of its state. A low-carb, high-fat diet can have dramatic results: not just in reverseing diabetes but improving quality of life overall. When contemplating this path to better living through reduced carbs diets, keep this in mind: weight loss alone won’t do. It’s about feeling better overall as well!
